About Mike Travis

Named by BusinessWeek as one of “The World’s Most Influential Headhunters”, Mike Travis credits his accomplishments through the years to one central principle—understanding and serving clients as if their businesses were his own.

For almost two decades, Mike has served clients by recruiting general management and function heads for medical device, diagnostic, instrumentation and biopharmaceutical companies. He also recruits board members in all industries.

He is frequently utilized by the media to offer commentary on topics related to executive search, with recent coverage in the Boston Business Journal, The New York Times, Executive Recruiter News, and other business publications.

Before joining Travis & Company, Mike was director of international sales and marketing for Media 100, a high-growth start-up manufacturer of digital video editing systems, where he built the company’s international sales channels from scratch. Earlier he worked at Data Translation, a publicly-traded manufacturer of computing products for scientific and engineering applications, where he held a variety of sales and marketing positions including director of product marketing for the image processing business unit.

Mike is an active member of MassMEDIC, the MIT Enterprise Forum, where he serves on the Steering Committee of the Life Sciences SIG, the HR Leadership Forum, and the WPI Venture Forum, where he participates in the Program Committee and has moderated several programs on building management teams for start-ups.

Mike graduated in 1984 from Haverford College with a BA in history, and earned an MA in history at the University of Chicago.
