Our client was a medical device start-up.
The company had a talented development team, but a legacy of consistently missing milestones. The company determined it needed a seasoned executive to lead and manage product development, and to get the team to deliver to plans.
Travis & Company met with the CEO (who was the hiring manager), along with development managers who would report to the new SVP (some of whom were not excited about the company’s plans to hire their boss). We developed a sound understanding of the status of product development, as well of dynamics within the group.
We conducted a national search and presented a strong list of finalists. The winning candidate had an exceptionally strong track record, deep management experience, and had worked for a mix of start-ups and large companies.
The new Senior Vice-President of Research & Development quickly established leadership of the team, won over his direct reports, and got product development on track.
